When Dinosaurs Go Bad

One of Miloh's favorite books is How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food? If you've never read it then I'll give you a brief synopsis. The first half of the book is questions. Do dinosaurs stick beans up their nose or smash fruit in their toes? And things like that. The second half is all about manners. It says no they don't do those things, they say please and thank you and have manners and all that. When we read it to Miloh it's cute... Every time we ask one of the questions (like do dinosaurs throw down their cup hoping to make someone else pick it up?) he answers yes. Of course we don't want him doing those things but it's funny when he shakes his head, smiles and says yes. And I'm not sure he really doesn't understand what he's saying yes to so we're good... Or not. Lately he's been imitating the dinosaurs... So maybe his yes answers were real. I'm pretty sure I was underestimating him. He's smashed potatoes into his toes...

The Icky Bug Counting Book: A book report

Over a month ago I did my first book report for this blog and said I'd do some periodic reports on books that I feel miss the mark a bit for one reason or another. Perhaps they have run on sentences, innapropriate material or are have mistakes. Well time flies... and here's the second installment, which is really the first because the original post was a good book. Here goes. Cute cover The book I did a report on is called The Icky Bug Counting Book by Jerry Pallotta and illustrated by his bestest friend in the world Ralph Masiello. The Icky Bug book is about icky bugs. It has icky bugs in it and it has numbers too... Damn I loved those kind of book reports. We don't own this book so I won't say it's the most thorough  report but what do you expect...it's like 32 pages and that's a lot. Anyway it starts out all cute, and with number one which is a fantastic place to start a counting book. One Then the next 14 numbers are great. Some ...

Petit Connoisseur – Art: A book report

I'm not sure why, but early on we decided that we wanted Miloh to know how to speak and read. Therefore decided to read to him. I know it's weird but we're just like that. As I started reading his books I noticed a lot of ridiculous things. Some things in simple word books were wrong, some story-lines fell totally flat (I'm not expecting great literature but a little effort is nice), and some things just didn't make sense (and not in a good Dr. Seuss way). So I've decided to do some book reviews, in my own way...but before I start ripping books to shreds I thought I'd start with one I like, although I didn't like it at first. Petit Connoisseur: Art . It's a simple 7 spread book with art words like Moma, Dada, Van Gogh and such. I was an art major so I got stuck on a few of the spreads. Sure Van Gogh is in his style as Dali is in his and such. But cubism is just blocks stacked up, in more of a pop style if anything. Plus why is MoMA in there...
