Holy shit I have a kid

I could probably keep this as a recurring post title.

I think it all the time. On my way to get cash from the ATM. When I'm hanging downstairs while he's sleeping upstairs and I hear him on the monitor. When I go to feed him in the middle of the night and he yawns and stretches backward in my hands. When I'm making coffee. When I see Staci in the morning. When I think about what we're doing on the weekend. On my walk to my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. When I hear Indian music and subsequently want Indian food for dinner. When I'm a few blocks away from home on my scooter.

Pretty much all the time it hits me that I have this awesome boy. It also hits me how incredibly tiny he is and how he's starting to get a personality.

And I think about what he's going to be like when he's older. I can't wait to see what kind of person he becomes, but I don't want to rush things...however I am so curious. I also think about when he's 12 and 13 and such and he's a total pain in the ass.

Holy shit I have a kid..and that's pretty cool.

  9. I'm completely with you on this one. I spent the first 5 months thinking to myself "Holy shit! I have a kid!"

My daughter is 5 months old. I've been keeping a blog about my adventures in this, not as regularly as you have been. I'm only able to post about once a week because otherwise all of my posts would be "LOOK HOW AMAZING MY DAUGHTER IS!! HOLY SHIT I HAVE A DAUGHTER!!! HOW CAN I BE A DAD??"

I think that might get old after a while.

I look forward to reading more of your posts.

Giveaway Gear Thursday: Paper Culture ($25 coupon code)

Gear Thursday is back this week with a giveaway from a great company called Paper Culture and I'm giving away $25 coupon codes to two different winners. I found Paper Culture on my search for some really well designed birth announcements. Being a designer I probably should have designed them myself but the chaos of a new baby made that impossible. When I saw their announcements I was psyched...we ordered the one below. We were super happy we went with them over some of the other places we've found. A few reasons for that...their designs are great and pretty much the style I would have designed, they are printed on really nice stock (a matte 130lb thick paper), the cards have rounded corners which makes them look nicer and real people lay out your cards. That last one was kind of important to me. You plug in your info and a designer lays it out and sends you a proof in a couple days. You can OK it, make a change or decide not to go with it...there is no obligation. Everyon...

You were wrong Mr. Smith...boys do cry

yeah I'm re-using a pic but it works so well Here's a little story that has laughter, a hell of a lot of tears and a happy ending. It's basically like Shrek and should therefore be picked up by Pixar. If you are from there please contact me so we can work together. The story is about how we got putting Miloh to sleep. It starts with with an earlier pos t called Sweet Child O Mine. A post that talks about how I started going insane while trying to put him to sleep when he was a month old. Once we got over that hump it was smooth sailing. With the help of a twitter mom (thanks Mae) we came up with a great routine of bath, bottle then sleep, while we switched who put him to sleep every other night. Then something would happen...we'd bath him, give him the bottle, comfort him until a bit sleepy and then put him in his bed. The second the he hit the mattress he would start wailing...it wasn't fun...not at all. Staci and I had theories...mine was teething w...

Response to a comment about breastfeeding

Since I'm a dude and unable to produce milk from I never thought I woul have to defend the reason we formula feed instead of breast feed. But I received a comment on a recent post so I thought I would talk about it here. I'll get to the why we don't later but I'll start off on a tangent. First off I don't want to alienate the person who asked the comment because they say they are a reader and I'm cool with anyone stopping by. But I can't call the person out anyway because the comment was anonymous...and here is where I go into a little bit of a rant, and if you follow me on twitter you know I'm a fan of the rant. I'm assuming the comment was anonymous on purpose. Perhaps the person is a friend or someone I follow on twitter. Maybe they didn't want to ruin that relationship by coming out and saying it. I'm  a big boy and can handle criticism. Anonymous comments are never things like "Where did you get that cool toy?" they ar...
