A bunch of awards

One of the cool things about doing a blog is finding other great blogs out there...but even better is when some other bloggers find you and recognize yours as one that they dig.

In the last few weeks I was given 4 blog awards by fellow bloggers. It has taken me awhile to get this post together so I apologize to them for the late thank you. But here it is, thanks Cynthia from First Time Mom 2 Be, Brandy from Bigger By the Belly, Lauren from With Two Cats and Metta1313 from 365 Days of Being 30 and a Mommy.

So each one of these awards says I should do a different thing as far as how many blogs to link to and what I should share, so I thought I'd average out the stuff and share it below. Sorry to do it this way but I'm a bit sleep deprived so I'm being lazy. My apologies to the good folks that gave me the awards.

I'm gonna share 5 things that make me happy and 5 blogs I dig. Those bloggers can choose whichever award they like and pass that one along.

5 things that make me happy:
Staci's smile.
Miloh's cooing.
Snowboarding.
My scooter.
My dingo.

5 blogs I dig (these are ones I haven't mentioned in previous posts)
Parenting in Progress written by Mae. Good stuff (her dad even likes it) and her tweets rock.
Last Train to Pooksville by Emily. All you need to know is her kid is a genius.
Kristi Maristi written by, you guessed it, Kristi. She has purple hair right now.
Hope Springs Eternal by Natalie. Her baby Nellie is 2 days older than Miloh.
Beyond Snapshots by Rachel Devine and Peta Mazey. Great info on photographing kids, although it makes me feel guilty that I haven't taken pics of Miloh as much as I'd like.

And if you want to get a glimpse of what I do from 9-5 and see things that inspire me you can check out my other blog.

And while you're clicking things you can click on the banner below so I get a vote...all you need to do is click. But before you click make a wish as it is guaranteed* to come true.
Click To Vote For Us @ the Top Baby Blogs Directory! The most popular baby blogs
You can also click the small banner to the right every time you visit here. Or you can copy and paste this link http://tinyurl.com/smonk into your browser once a day to vote for me. The votes don't win me anything it just get's me higher on the list so more people like you find my blog. Thanks.

*My lawyers want me to say that when I say your wish is "guaranteed to come true" I don't mean to imply in any way that this is a guarantee that said wish will come true.

  3. Thanks so much Kenny! You're such a cool dude and I love reading about all of your adventures. Also, Miloh's cuteness is definitely affecting our sibling spacing plans.

Dear Scott the Paleontologist – the response... Wait sorry... the awesome response

In my last post I asked some incredibly pressing questions to Dr. Scott Sampson aka Scott the Paleontologist. Questions that any parent of a Dinosaur Train fan wants to know... I got a reply and I have to say Dr. Scott is hilarious and pretty awesome... But I'm a fan of science humor... So here are his responses in line with mine. They're in blue because that's the color of most of  Shiny Pteranodon. Dear Scott the Paleontologist, My son Miloh and I are fans of Dinosaur Train and as an avid fan I have some questions regarding it that I hope you can answer: The train is a steam engine. Does it run off coal? If it does use coal is there a possibility that greenhouse gases from that could have lead to the extinction of dinosaurs? How come this isn't a theory? Very interesting question. Yes, to the best of my knowledge, the Dinosaur Train runs on fossil fuels, but we actually do have an episode upcoming where we investigate alternative fuel trains. Given that

Response to a comment about breastfeeding

Since I'm a dude and unable to produce milk from I never thought I woul have to defend the reason we formula feed instead of breast feed. But I received a comment on a recent post so I thought I would talk about it here. I'll get to the why we don't later but I'll start off on a tangent. First off I don't want to alienate the person who asked the comment because they say they are a reader and I'm cool with anyone stopping by. But I can't call the person out anyway because the comment was anonymous...and here is where I go into a little bit of a rant, and if you follow me on twitter you know I'm a fan of the rant. I'm assuming the comment was anonymous on purpose. Perhaps the person is a friend or someone I follow on twitter. Maybe they didn't want to ruin that relationship by coming out and saying it. I'm  a big boy and can handle criticism. Anonymous comments are never things like "Where did you get that cool toy?" they ar

New Giveaway: ABC's for Expectant Dads - 10 awesome copies

Winners have been picked for the giveaway. Todd was so nice as to give all who entered by the deadline a copy of his book. Thanks all who entered...I sent an email to you for your info. Please email me (info on the header) if you don't get that email. Rommel I could not find your email...please let me know your contact info. A bit ago I found Todd Lieman in Twitterland and he sent me a copy of his book ABC's for Expectant Dads: The Ultimate A- for Dads-in-Training. I'd looked at a bunch of expectant dad books and I thought most were terrible. I did pick up The Expectant Father and I liked it but I haven't looked at it in months. I think it's tough for dad's because we're just reading about what's going on with the mothers and it's easier to hear it from them. Staci is reading so much that she keeps me up to date on things I should know and I'm sure most expectant moms are the same. I'm also luckily in that doing this blog has connected
