Gear Thursday: Cloud B Twilight Turtle

If you read my Random Shorts post a few days ago you may remember that we have a new routine that we've been doing to get Miloh to sleep. One of the things that we bought to help is this Twilight Turtle nightlight. I'm not even exaggerating when I say this is one of the best things ever...it's so cool and soothing that Staci and I want to get one for our room...

It's actually rather simple but so nice. It's a soft turtle with a hard plastic shell. On the shell are cutouts of constellations...so when you turn the lights on the constellations shine throughout the room. You can change the color of the lights to green, blue or amber. The green and blue are the brightest and it's reminiscent of those glow in the dark stars but a lot less hassle and a lot less permanant.

It's incredibly soothing and it shuts off in 45 minutes just as your baby (hopefully) falls asleep.

One thing I'm really digging is that 8 real constellations shine on your ceiling and walls...I think that will be cool for Miloh when he's older...it will be a learning tool.

There are two other styles of night light including a lady bug and a  sea turtle, which is even cuter than this turtle and which some of the money goes to a conservation charity.

  2. I got this and the sleep sheep at the same time. Elise doesn't seem very interested in it. I didn't know it shows real constellations though. Interesting!

  3. I wrote this post 2 days ago...but I should add that yesterday when I turned it on at night Miloh instantly started looking at the stars (in what I thought was amazement but you never know)

  5. We have this same turtle. I Love it. Except its out of batteries right now. Its nicer to look at than a regular night lite. We have both though cause I feel bad for Milo when he wakes up and the room is pitch black. I love looking at the constellations and trying to figure them out!

  6. another great baby item for getting them to go to bed is the fisher price lullaby seahorse. it's cheap and babies adore it, plus the thing glows like the glowworms we had as kids- so when you take it in the car, you can use it as a nightlight to check on them in the dark. bonus!

this is my first time on your blog, love it, your kiddo is adorable. plus i love the "now with baby" at the top. lol

Giveaway Gear Thursday: Paper Culture ($25 coupon code)

Gear Thursday is back this week with a giveaway from a great company called Paper Culture and I'm giving away $25 coupon codes to two different winners. I found Paper Culture on my search for some really well designed birth announcements. Being a designer I probably should have designed them myself but the chaos of a new baby made that impossible. When I saw their announcements I was psyched...we ordered the one below. We were super happy we went with them over some of the other places we've found. A few reasons for that...their designs are great and pretty much the style I would have designed, they are printed on really nice stock (a matte 130lb thick paper), the cards have rounded corners which makes them look nicer and real people lay out your cards. That last one was kind of important to me. You plug in your info and a designer lays it out and sends you a proof in a couple days. You can OK it, make a change or decide not to go with it...there is no obligation. Everyon...

You were wrong Mr. Smith...boys do cry

yeah I'm re-using a pic but it works so well Here's a little story that has laughter, a hell of a lot of tears and a happy ending. It's basically like Shrek and should therefore be picked up by Pixar. If you are from there please contact me so we can work together. The story is about how we got putting Miloh to sleep. It starts with with an earlier pos t called Sweet Child O Mine. A post that talks about how I started going insane while trying to put him to sleep when he was a month old. Once we got over that hump it was smooth sailing. With the help of a twitter mom (thanks Mae) we came up with a great routine of bath, bottle then sleep, while we switched who put him to sleep every other night. Then something would happen...we'd bath him, give him the bottle, comfort him until a bit sleepy and then put him in his bed. The second the he hit the mattress he would start wailing...it wasn't fun...not at all. Staci and I had theories...mine was teething w...

Response to a comment about breastfeeding

Since I'm a dude and unable to produce milk from I never thought I woul have to defend the reason we formula feed instead of breast feed. But I received a comment on a recent post so I thought I would talk about it here. I'll get to the why we don't later but I'll start off on a tangent. First off I don't want to alienate the person who asked the comment because they say they are a reader and I'm cool with anyone stopping by. But I can't call the person out anyway because the comment was anonymous...and here is where I go into a little bit of a rant, and if you follow me on twitter you know I'm a fan of the rant. I'm assuming the comment was anonymous on purpose. Perhaps the person is a friend or someone I follow on twitter. Maybe they didn't want to ruin that relationship by coming out and saying it. I'm  a big boy and can handle criticism. Anonymous comments are never things like "Where did you get that cool toy?" they ar...
