When Dinosaurs Go Bad

One of Miloh's favorite books is How Do Dinosaurs Eat Their Food?

If you've never read it then I'll give you a brief synopsis. The first half of the book is questions. Do dinosaurs stick beans up their nose or smash fruit in their toes? And things like that.

The second half is all about manners. It says no they don't do those things, they say please and thank you and have manners and all that.

When we read it to Miloh it's cute... Every time we ask one of the questions (like do dinosaurs throw down their cup hoping to make someone else pick it up?) he answers yes. Of course we don't want him doing those things but it's funny when he shakes his head, smiles and says yes.

And I'm not sure he really doesn't understand what he's saying yes to so we're good... Or not.

Lately he's been imitating the dinosaurs... So maybe his yes answers were real. I'm pretty sure I was underestimating him.

He's smashed potatoes into his toes.

One night he put his foot on the table, looked at us and smiled. We said to take it off and he did. Then he put it back three more times. On that third time he stuck his foot in the air, spread his toes and smiled a big super cute smile. Then with his big toe he tried to flip his plate over. The whole time he was smiling and he even did his trademark eyebrow lift as if to say "watch me."

We all laughed... How could you not. I mean it was funny. Completely inappropriate but funny.

And that wasn't the end of it. A few weeks later he stuffed a pea in his nose... Actually shoved a pea right up his nose and smiled.

Yeah he's a mess. Notice the pea in his nose.
Needless to say the book is collecting dust right now until he can understand the first half is bad behavior and the second half is good behavior.

Moral of the story: When your kid has a pea in it's nose grab your camera fast, then clear the airway.

  2. Thanks. Not sure what you meant by "so far" as it is in fact the best. But still thanks, and glad you found it.

Giveaway Gear Thursday: Paper Culture ($25 coupon code)

Gear Thursday is back this week with a giveaway from a great company called Paper Culture and I'm giving away $25 coupon codes to two different winners. I found Paper Culture on my search for some really well designed birth announcements. Being a designer I probably should have designed them myself but the chaos of a new baby made that impossible. When I saw their announcements I was psyched...we ordered the one below. We were super happy we went with them over some of the other places we've found. A few reasons for that...their designs are great and pretty much the style I would have designed, they are printed on really nice stock (a matte 130lb thick paper), the cards have rounded corners which makes them look nicer and real people lay out your cards. That last one was kind of important to me. You plug in your info and a designer lays it out and sends you a proof in a couple days. You can OK it, make a change or decide not to go with it...there is no obligation. Everyon...

You were wrong Mr. Smith...boys do cry

yeah I'm re-using a pic but it works so well Here's a little story that has laughter, a hell of a lot of tears and a happy ending. It's basically like Shrek and should therefore be picked up by Pixar. If you are from there please contact me so we can work together. The story is about how we got putting Miloh to sleep. It starts with with an earlier pos t called Sweet Child O Mine. A post that talks about how I started going insane while trying to put him to sleep when he was a month old. Once we got over that hump it was smooth sailing. With the help of a twitter mom (thanks Mae) we came up with a great routine of bath, bottle then sleep, while we switched who put him to sleep every other night. Then something would happen...we'd bath him, give him the bottle, comfort him until a bit sleepy and then put him in his bed. The second the he hit the mattress he would start wailing...it wasn't fun...not at all. Staci and I had theories...mine was teething w...

Response to a comment about breastfeeding

Since I'm a dude and unable to produce milk from I never thought I woul have to defend the reason we formula feed instead of breast feed. But I received a comment on a recent post so I thought I would talk about it here. I'll get to the why we don't later but I'll start off on a tangent. First off I don't want to alienate the person who asked the comment because they say they are a reader and I'm cool with anyone stopping by. But I can't call the person out anyway because the comment was anonymous...and here is where I go into a little bit of a rant, and if you follow me on twitter you know I'm a fan of the rant. I'm assuming the comment was anonymous on purpose. Perhaps the person is a friend or someone I follow on twitter. Maybe they didn't want to ruin that relationship by coming out and saying it. I'm  a big boy and can handle criticism. Anonymous comments are never things like "Where did you get that cool toy?" they ar...
